The environment is lovely though - what one might expect from a café. You might want to choose from an air-conditioned seat inside or enjoy the greenery (and humid weather of Singapore) outside.

I'm supposed to be working on my assignment, but nothing could be more boring than a 2000-word journal review on something so remotely unappetising, that I simply can't help thinking of food. Therefore I just have to take a break and write a review on the food at Dome Café.

This particular Dome Café I went to is situated at Bishan Community Club and the Singapore Intellectual Games Centre. (By the way, the SIGC houses the four kinds of indoor games - International Chess, Chinese Chess, Weiqi and Bridge. It's open to the public! Do drop down for some games!) But I digress. The food there is really great! Well, so far, my favourite is the Ham and Cheese Pizza. Yum yum yummie! Mouth-watering delicious pizza! It beats all other kinds of pizzas I've tasted, especially the pizza at Pizza Hut. Gosh, maybe their cook should take some lessons from them. Okie, back to the Ham and Cheese Pizza at Dome, what I really love is … everything! It's about 20 cm in diameter (I think), just nice for one personal helping. The cheese is oooooohh so thick, the ham is Mmmmmmm so fresh and juicy. And the ham is those real ham and in huge slices too, not some thin slices of canned ham. The pizza is topped with pineapples and sprinkled with herbs. The crust is thin and crisp and most importantly it's just nice, not undercooked, nor overcooked. And the best thing is that it comes freshly baked from the oven, you can simply smell the delicious smell of the freshly baked bread crust of the pizza …. ahhhhhh …. J

That was my favourite ham and cheese pizza. Another pizza I've tried was the one with the tangerine chicken. Hmm, if you want to try something different, then go for it!! Well, unless you don't mind having the Chinese parsley in it. The pizza has really generous servings of toppings and lots of cheese too, but I fear the taste of this one doesn't quite suit me. Neither did it suit my friend, who had each and every Chinese parsley removed from his pizza, 'cos he said "weird". Unfortunately, I had to finish HIS one quarter of that pizza cos I so stupidly exchanged one quarter of my delicious Ham and Cheese pizza for his. :P Duh.

There are only three kinds of pizzas, but I just can't remember the last one. Yuen Ho will kindly go and check it out one day though J .

Besides the pizza, the other thing of note is the Chicken and Mushroom Pie. It's a rather small pie (about 10?cm in diameter) and it comes with the salad. The pie is Delicious!! And it's really stuffed with chicken and mushroom! The filling inside is soft and delicious, the crust outside is crisp and hot. Unfortunately, as pie goes, this one is a bit small, and may not be filling for a main course meal for big eaters. (not me of course)

Oh yes, the soup. I've tried the Soup-of-the-Day: Clam Chowder. And it's darn good! It's very Good! It's neither too salty, nor watery and it's served hot (as in the ouch hot hot, my tongue! kind of hot), and it's really very tasty! (Another delicious clam chowder soup I've tried before is at The Big Apple Coffee along Bukit Timah, but that's another story). It comes with a slice of bread for you to dip in too.

For drinks, my favourite is the … *drum roll* … Ice-chocolate with chocolate ice cream! And I can tell you, it's really very, very chocolaty. It's great! It's wonderful! It's fantastic, but don't take my word for it, go try if you love chocolate! J The ice-cream is real nice, very rich chocolaty flavour (bet it's full of calories too, haha, too bad .. I'm thin). There are lots of other kind of drinks available too, but I've yet to try any of them. Too crazed with chocolate J

Besides all these I had reviewed, there are lots of other interesting and delicious stuffs in the menu too. Unfortunately, I never did have the chance to try the others, so I can't possible write how good or how bad they are. The portions served are reasonably all right for one person's consumption. However price-wise, I guess it's kind of expensive. Pizza was about $8.90 - $9.90. The soup should be around $4 something (I really can't remember! It was quite a while since I've been there L )

The environment is lovely though. It had a classic kind of feel about the place - wooden chairs, small round tables, green plants outside, - what one might expect from a café. You might want to choose an air-conditioned seat inside or enjoy the greenery (and humid weather of Singapore) outside. Quite a nice place. And of course, it always brings fond memories for me. My friends and I would always have pizza there whenever we have a chess tournament. Well, sometimes with our opponents too. The service is all right. Although I remembered once we asked the waiter to serve our food faster 'cos our tournament starts like in half and hour's time, and guess what? He served my pizza and chocolate ice-cream together!! Duh. There are other branches in Singapore too. This place would be a more once-in-a-while kind of place one goes to. So keep that in mind, if you wanna go somewhere classy for a nice meal.
